Empowering Innovation Through Better Health Data
High-quality real-world health data is essential for advancing medical research, speeding up product development, and delivering personalized care to patients.
But in Wisconsin, innovators face major challenges:
-
High costs of accessing health data
-
Disconnected health systems that limit collaboration
-
Lack of data that hinders social impact and innovation
The Wisconsin Health Data Hub is working to eliminate these barriers—unlocking the full potential of health data to drive economic growth and improve health outcomes statewide.

Building Wisconsin’s Future of Health Innovation
The Wisconsin Health Data Hub (WHDH) is a groundbreaking initiative to create a secure, socially impactful, and accessible health data ecosystem—laying the foundation for the next generation of biohealth innovation.
Led by the University of Wisconsin–Madison School of Medicine and Public Health (SMPH), WHDH will bring together patient data from the state’s four major hospital systems and Wisconsin’s official Health Information Exchange.
